By judgment of 12.5.1998 - AZ 312 O 85/98 – Hamburg Regional Court ruled that a site operator using links has to be responsible for the content of the sites that have been linked to. The professional title "European Patent Attorney" (professional representative before the European Patent Office) is awarded by the European Patent Office.
The legitimization for using the professional titles “European Trademark Attorney” and “European Design Attorney” is obtained by registration on the list of professional representatives at the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market according to Article 93 of Council Regulation (EC) No. 207/2009 of 26 February 2009 on the Community trademark and Article 78 of Council Regulation (EC) No. 6/2002 of 12 December 2001 on Community designs. The European Union has the authority to award this professional title.
